Fear and excessive gaps in finishing in the first half were aspects that contributed to the 0-1 loss of the Angolan national senior men's football team to Cameroon on Sunday in CHAN2016, said the former Angolan international Chico Afonso.

Speaking to Angop about the debut and defeat of Palancas Negras to Cameroon, the former player of the national team said that in the first half, the national squad showed some fear of the opponent, who is theoretically much stronger due to its football history in the continent.

"We suffered an early goal because we respected too much the opponent but in the second half Angola made a better performance but we missed the opportunities to score goals", he argued.

According to him, with the entry of the midfielder Mateus in the second half, Angola changed its football.

He said, should Angola keep the same attitude in the second round, it will be better chances to win the game.

The sole goal was scored in the first half by Emane.

For the same group and round, DR Congo beat Ethiopia by 3-0.
Angola will face DR Congo on 21 January for the second round of Group B.
