After threatening to boycott the World Cup if they were not paid their bonuses, the Lionesses received part of their payments from the government on the eve of the Canada 2015 Women’s World Cup.

Each of the 23 players to the present, should have in their account, the sum of 18.500.000 FCFA devided as, 500.000 presence bonus, 15.000.000 qualification bonus and 3.000.000 won match bonus against Ecuador.

But yesterday, few hours before the crucial match against Japan, each Lioness only had 500.000 FCFA presence bonus. Dissatisfied, Lionesses made faces at a meeting with the Cameroonian authorities.

Adoum Garoua, Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Head of the Cameroonian delegation, found a ridiculous pretext to explain to the players of the national team why the authorities refuse to pay them the performance bonuses on Canadian soil.

"You know that cash circulation in recent times has become very difficult . We were told that if they take the bonuses on Canadian soil, the collection of taxes will be too much and they will lose big part of their bonuses. We gave them these explanations and they agreed that their bonuses will be paid when they will return to Cameroon," said Adoum Garoua to the press, after the end of the meeting.
