2009 GA adopts constitution and the electoral code

AG de 2009 AG de 2009

Essomba Eyenga and other members of the GA are challenging the way in which the texts were adopted and promise to notify the national Olympic Committee for cancellation.

The Cameroon football Federation (Fecafoot) has adopted new laws on Tuesday at the hotel Mont Fébé in Yaoundé by the 97 members of 2009 elected Assembly.

The Constitution and the electoral code were validated with 63 votes against 34. Article 78 concerning the highest court to which disputes in connection with football must be submitted consumed the time and energy of the delegates.

It has not been adopted as it had been modified by the Committee for Standardization of Fecafoot. Now, it is only in the event of exhaustion of local remedies at Fecafoot that its members will notify the Board of conciliation and arbitration of the national Olympic and sports Committee of Cameroon. Nevertheless, participants challenged the conduct of the meeting for the adoption of the laws.

The delegate of the West region, André Djoko, argued that two-thirds representing the blocking minority was not attained. To which the president of the Committee for Standardization of Fecafoot, Joseph Owona, replied that "the adoption of the Statute is not the amendment of certain provisions. This is the change that is subject to the rule of two-thirds. Otherwise, there is even no possibility to adopt new statutes. Our mission was to adopt new statutes and we did it. Now, when there is need to change them, we will apply the two-thirds rule."

But the explanation was not convincing to Antoine Depadoue and Essomba Eyenga, another Member of the GA convened June 2, 2015 in Yaoundé. The former leader of Tonnerre announced that he would notify the Board of conciliation and arbitration of the national Olympic and sports Committee of Cameroon.
