10 reasons the Seattle Seahawks should sign Ndamukong Suh

1- Seahawks need a run-stopping defensive tackle

Suh was the driving force behind the Detroit Lions top-ranked rushing defense that allowed a paltry 69.3 yards a game during the regular season. The Seahawks run defense faltered during the playoffs and pairing Suh with the returning Brandon Mebane will form a near-inpenetrable wall.

2- He's the most dominant defensive tackle in the NFL

Two plays during Detroit's playoff loss at Dallas served as a microcosm of Suh's dominance. Suh posted sacks on two consecutive plays, overpowering the Dallas offensive line and, on one play, using one arm to yank Dallas quarterback Tony Romo down to the turf. He's alongside Houston's J.J. Watt as the most dominant defensive linemen in the NFL.

3- He'll take the Seahawks defense to the next level

The Seahawks' defense is already very good, but with Suh in the lineup, the defense could reach legendary status.

4- He'll reunite with Cliff Avril

The two played together for three seasons in Detroit. Avril produced his best seasons during that span, posting a total of 29 sacks. The two combined to post a total of 51 sacks during those three seasons.

5- He commands double-teams

Suh regularly encounters double-teams from opponents, which should free up pass-rushing specialists such as Michael Bennett and Cliff Avril for opportunities to pressure the quarterback. The attention devoted to Suh will also help linebackers filling the gaps and on blitz schemes.

6- His attitude and style is a natural fit

Suh's the Dennis Rodman of the NFL. Hated as an opponent, loved as a teammate. Sure, he can play dirty - such as stepping on the ankle of Aaron Rodgers (pictured) - but those moments are overshadowed by his performance on the field. Suh's style meshes perfectly with the cocky Seattle defense.

7- He could come cheap

The opportunity to play for a perennial Super Bowl contender could prompt Suh to accept less money to sign with the Seahawks. It's a rare occurrence, but a few athletes have opted to play for less dollars to join a championship-caliber squad.

8- Paul Allen has the cash

Even if Suh wants a big-money contract - which is likely - the Seahawks owner possesses deep pockets and can afford to meet Suh's contract demands.

9- He would enjoy playing for Pete Carroll

The Seahawks head coach is known as a players coach and the philosophy has been successful. The Seahawks have reached the Super Bowl two consecutive years and probably are one historically awful play-call away from winning two consecutive NFL championships.

10- He'll thrive playing in the Pacific Northwest

Suh attended Portland's Grant High School and would probably welcome a return to the Pacific Northwest. The opportunity to regularly play in front of family and friends could result in a more relaxed - but just as dominant.
