Consumers of the SCTM cooking gas nationwide have been told to return to their former sales points from Monday 3rd October 2016 to get this product which has for some time now been almost out of the market.

The declaration was made by the Minister of Trade Luc Mac Gloire Mbarga Atangana following the signing of a tripartite agreement between importers of the cooking gas Tradex, the distributors of SCTM and the commercial Bank of Cameroon (C.B.C).

Following the accord, CBC will cover 50% of SCTM debt 4 billion francs CFA and the rest will be paid by SCTM occassionally over a period of 36 to 48 months.

It is worth mentioning that the majority of household in Cameroon use this brand explaining why there was total desperation when the gas got scarce.

During the period of scarcity, the Ministry of Trade was organizing sporadic sales at specific distribution points as a temporal remedy to this scarcity.

If the agreement is fully implemented, it should mark the end of the sufferings of households many of whom resorted to alternatives sources of energy including wood and charcoal.
