Italy canceled Cameroon’s debt

It’s a total of five agreements that were signed at the end of the four-day visit of the Italian President in Cameroon.

The Italian President Sergio Mattarella, left Cameroon on Sunday, March 20 after a state visit of four days. During their discussions, the two leaders welcomed the excellent relations of friendship and cooperation between the two countries, and agreed to explore ways that can lead these relations to higher heights. They also made an overview of regional and international issues that concern the international community.

In total, five agreements were signed between this country of the European Union and Cameroon. Indeed, Paul Biya and Sergio Mattarella welcomed the strengthening of the legal framework for their cooperation, which has been enriched with the signing of three new agreements, namely the exemption of short-stay visas for holders of diplomatic Agreements and service passports, the cultural cooperation, technical and scientific Agreement and the Framework Document for the use of resources from the Cameroon’s debt cancellation towards Italy.

The two leaders also welcomed the signing of the following: the Memorandum of Understanding between the National School of Public Works and the University of Padua. The Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development and the Department of Civil Engineering, Architectural and Environmental at the same University, for the promotion of sustainable urban development in Cameroon.

One also retains from this visit that Paul Biya and his host welcomed the convergence of views between Cameroon and Italy on the need to reform the UN Security Council.

The President of the Italian Republic, HE Sergio Mattarella, invited the President of the Republic of Cameroon, HE Paul Biya, to make an official visit to Italy. This invitation was accepted with pleasure. The arrangements for this visit will be decided through diplomatic channels.
