Biya grants pardon to Lydienne Yen Eyoum

Franco-Cameroon lawyer, Lydien Yen Eyoum, whose detention was deemed unlawful by the Human Rights Committee of the UN will be released soonest.

After a long legal process that began on the 8th of January 2010 (date of her arrest), and ended on June the 9th, 2015 with the confirmation of her conviction by the Supreme Court of Cameroon that she will serve 25 years imprisonment, and pay the sum of FCFA 1,153,444,981, jointly with the late Minister Henri Engoulou as damages and interests, Lydien Eyoum has finally gotten her presidential pardon.

On July the 3rd, 2015, before his French counterpart President Hollande during a visit to Cameroon, Biya promised to free the French lawyer. The President Biya commitment was later confirmed by French senator, Yves Leconte while on an official visit to Cameroon.


Cameroon Concord has gathered that Paul Biya has granted Lydien Eyoum the pardon.
