Indomitable Lionesses Indomitable Lionesses

In a pre-match press conference on October 1, 2015 at the Mont Febe hotel in Yaounde, the coach of the Indomitable Lionesses, Enow Ngachu, said the objective of his team in the double confrontation against Zimbabwe is to qualify for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

He said though he did not have all the players he shortlisted for the encounter, there is a solid back up in home-based players who are equally able to deliver. He said the team cannot always count on Aboudi Onguene or Gaelle Enganamouit. He said clubs abroad were reluctant to release players since the Olympic Games qualifiers do not feature on the FIFA calendar.

He admitted having scanty knowledge on the Zimbabwean team. Based on information gathered from friends and the social network saying the Zimbabwean side plays rapid football with a lot of passes thus the Lionesses will not only have to attack but also defend well.

Answering questions from the press, the captain of the team, Christine Mani said there was no problem in the den of the Lionesses saying though they miss the professionals who are absent; they could still do without them.

“Every player is valuable”, she said. New players are warmly welcomed to the team as she said the national team is governed by a set of regulations and discipline which is the strength of the team.

Shortly after the press conference, a certain mobile telephone company offered them credit cards worth 450.000 as compensation for their general performance. They also offered some 30 power back devices to the team coach and captain for onward distribution to the rest of the team.

Representing Fecafoot was Charles Nguini who expressed gratitude to the company saying, feminine football occupies a place of choice in the programme of the new Fecafoot president.
