33 fake foreign certificates spotted by education ministry

Out of 464 candidates seeking for equivalence of their certificates obtained from foreign universities, 33 have been declared fake.

The discovery was made by the National commission in charge of detecting fraud during its 77th session held in Yaounde on 30th September 2015.

The commission is in charge of proposing equivalence and identifying foreign universities or institutions whose certificates are valid.

The Secretary General at the Ministry of Higher Education who chaired the session said objectivity and transparency must be ensured in the examination of the files.

The files have been crosschecked by three sub-committees that is from the PM’s Office, the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Public Service.

According to official sources, the foreign certificates must be examined, before the respective candidates can obtain their National certificates which must be the equivalence.
