Military thrills audience at 43rd National Day parade

The Cameroonian military joined the state in celebrating the 43rd edition of the National Day, with a strong portrayal of military prowess.

The commemoration of national unity march past at the 20th May Boulevard in Yaounde was presided over by President Paul Biya, Commander in-chief of the Arm Forces.

A major highlight of this year’s military parade was the participation of 200 Chadian led by Lieutenant Colonel Ibrahim Said.

Their practical chorography that was highly coordinated in footsteps and appearance was a high moment greatly applauded by the President and other personalities.

The military parade commanded by General Essaie Ngambou assisted by Colonel Biwolle Brigette began with the Chadian continent followed by the Presidential Guard.

The Combined Services Military Academy ,Gendarmerie, Multi-purpose intervention Groups and the Army in all its contingents followed in that order.

Then came the Air force, Navy, National Fire Fighting Brigade in charge of civil protection and lastly the war veterans, ex-servicemen and war victims closing the part of the event.

The military parade continued with a display of sophisticated military weaponry embedded in the march past of the mounted and motorized troops.

The zeal of Cameroonians from the nooks and crannies of the country to shun terrorism in all forms, was reaffirmed in the over two-hour military parade at the 20th May Boulevard in Yaounde, a commitment taken at a time Cameroonian army battles the Boko Haram terrorist in the Far North Regions.

The Commander in-chief of the Arm Forces, President Paul who personally declared war against the Nigerian sect, was visually impressed with the military.

This year’s edition of the National Day was celebrated under the theme “Defence forces and the Nation’s vital forces, acting in synergy to meet security challenges and preserve peace and stability in Cameroon and central Africa.”

The National Day is the day Southern Cameroon united with their brothers of La Republic du Cameroun to form a unitary state, the Republic of Cameroon, that was in 1972.
