2 Presidents, 1 PM welcomed at Nsimalen

Equato-Guinean President, C.A.R Transition President and Prime Minister Head of Government of Soa Tome and Principe were the first arrivals on Sunday.

The atmosphere at the Yaounde Nsimalen International Airport was filled with anxiety and ecstasy yesterday as the population came in their numbers to welcome the Heads of State and government arriving for the Extraordinary Session of the Conference of Heads of State and Government of the Council of Peace and Security in Central Africa on the Fight against the Boko Haram Terrorist Group.

The stage was well set for the Prime Minister, Head of Government, Philemon Yang accompanied by some members of government and other high level personalities to give the guests a hectic reception. It was exactly 1:20 pm, when the first plane transporting the Prime Minister, Head of Government of Soa Tome and Principe, Patrice Emery Travoada touched down at the airport.

After all protocol and solemn ceremony, the August guest was received at the VIP lounge before being accompanied to the Hilton by the Minister of Communication, Issa Tchiroma Bakary.

At 1:50pm, it was the turn of the Transition President of the Central African Republic, Catherine Samba Panza who was equally received at the foot of the plane by PM Yang. She was accompanied to the Hilton by the Minister of Women’s Empowerment and the Family, Prof. Marie Therese Abena Ondoa.

When it clocked 3pm, the plane transporting the Angolan delegation led by the Secretary of State at the Angolan Ministry of External Relations, Manuel Domingo Augusto landed. He was received at the foot of the plane by the Minister of External Relations, Pierre Moukok Mbonjo.

The day ended with the arrival of President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo of Equatorial Guinea who arrived on board the plane belonging to the Equato-Guinean airline company, Ceiba Intercontinental. He was accompanied to the Hilton by Prof. Jacques Fame Ndongo, Minister of Higher Education.

The itinerary for the two Presidents and one Head of government was the same. After receiving them at the foot of the plane, the two dignitaries (PM Yang and guest) moved to the podium for the singing of the Anthems of the two nations.

This was immediately followed by the introduction of the national constituted corps, a brief stay at the VIP lounge and departure for the Hilton. Dance groups and the population from the various countries living in Yaounde were on hand to provide the ambiance worthy of the event. The animation was done by the Presidential Guard band.
