MTN remains leader of telecom market in Cameroon

According to the latest information on the sector, the subsidiary of the South African MTN, has more than 11 million mobile phone subscribers.

MTN Cameroon has the lion's share in the quarterly information of the telecommunications sector in Cameroon, made public by the Agency of regulation of telecommunications (ART).

On the second and third quarters 2014, the Cameroon subsidiary of the South African MTN Group, operating in the mobile telephony sector, was credited with 11, 2 million subscribers. These figures include both the subscribers prepaid than those using the postpaid mode.

Cameroon Telecommunications (Camtel), the public operator, by September 30, 2014, had 322,790 subscribers on wireline fixed telephony as TB Phone segments.

ART noted that the third operator, Orange Cameroon, had not reported on the situation of subscribers, by September 30, 2014.
