Fecafoot confirms convocation of Aurélien Chedjou

All players summoned by Volker Finke, head coach of the national team to prepare for the final phase of the Africa Cup of Nations 2015 are expected in Yaounde no later than Monday, January 05, 2015.

Among the selected squad is Aurélien Chedjou. Aurélien Chedjou was absent from the first list published on Wednesday, December 24, but the Galatasaray defender was brought on board in the last hour.

"I hear people say that it is the Presidency of the Republic who influenced this move. This is not fair. It is Coach Volker Finke, who convinced Joseph Owona on the need to include Chedjou. Owona gave his consent last Friday after which the player was immediately informed. This is good news to us, thanks to his indisputable skill" noted a member of the Commission of the international competitions of Fecafoot.

Joseph Owona, Cameroon football boss, had publicly indicated during a press conference held on Monday, December 22 at the headquarters of the Fecafoot in Yaounde, that he did not want to include players who were noted as indiscipline in the Brazil 2014 World Cup. It is true that he had quoted no names. But he had given clues that identified such players.

Since the Brazilian incident, Aurélien Chedjou had not been involved in the national selection. He will thus sign next year, his return in the camp of the Indomitable Lions after six months of relegation.
