6.5 billion FCFA set aside for agric research in Cameroon

Cameroon will spend 6.5 billion CFA FRANCS for the improvement of agricultural research in 2015, revealed the Institute of agronomic research for development (IRAD).

A budget balanced in revenue and expenditure of 12.2 billion CFA francs, more than 50 percent will be devoted to agricultural research. This envelope knows an increase of 2.5 billion CFA francs compared to the previous financial year, or 53.1 per cent in relative value.

In a statement received by APA, IRAD explained that the increase "was due in large part to the taking into account of the special allocation of 500 million Cfa francs granted by the Government for quantity production in improved basic seed".
