"School failure tends to corrode the educational system"

Cameroonians make fewer efforts in school, at least at the secondary level. This report is based on the official statistics produced by the Baccalaureat Office in Cameroon.

With regard to the results of the 2014 examinations session, closed July 30 with the publication of the Probatoire results, "on the 329,155 candidates who actually took part in the exams, 130,286 were successful. That represents a national success rate of 39.58% vs 44.69% at the 2013 session; This rate is the lowest in the last five sessions," acknowledged the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Office du Bac, Catherine Ndoumbe-Manga, Thursday, 18 December, in Yaoundé during the opening of the 48th ordinary session office.

"I invite all partners of the educational community to cope against school failure that tends to corrode our educational system", she added. This led to the production, by Bac office, of a national Pantheon of the good grades, appeared for the first time on December 15.

"It's a new repository which aims to boost more level in our high schools and colleges, with emphasis on the worship of the permanent effort, competitiveness, or even excellence.» Indeed, if we want to achieve emergence, we must raise the qualification of an increasing number of our youth at Baccalauréat", justified Mme Ndoumbe-Manga.
