Military intelligence infiltrates Boko Haram, arrest 30

The intelligence service of the Rapid Intervention Battalion, the elite force of the Cameroon military succeeded to infiltrate the Nigerian Islamic sect Boko Haram arresting 30 at Nnemeyong in the South of the country, Cameroon Concord has learnt.

The Boko Haram militants arrived the Far North Region of Cameroon and were assisted by plain cloth servicemen to hire vehicles transporting explosives from Ngaoundere heading to Yaounde, the nation’s capital.

Convinced that they could bribe their way to Yaounde, the militants paid an undisclosed sum of money to a Cameroon military informant at Ngaoundere who provided them with a police escort that drove them straight into a military interrogation center in Ebolowa.

Martin Mbarga Nguele, the Delegate General for National Security has reportedly raised up the issue of Boko Haram finances with the presidency.

The militants are now in custody at a secret military facility in Ebolowa, the capital of the Southern region. They will be presented to the judicial authorities this week.

Meanwhile, a Cameroon soldier died Saturday following a mine explosion under a military vehicle at Achigachia. Two other soldiers were also seriously injured.

It is vital to include in this report that the Cameroon army has carried out several aerial bombardment of the Gambarou locality deep within Nigeria over the week end.
