Cameroon to adopt charter for education and training

This is one of the resolutions of a meeting which took place 25th November, in Yaoundé.

The theme of the first edition of the international exhibition for education and training (Sief) which was held at the sports Palace in Yaoundé from 21st to 25th November 2014 was dubbed "Quality Education and training for an emerging Cameroon".

Initiated by the Agency for the development of Excellence and quality in education and training (Adeq) headed by Jacques Etoundi Ateba, lecturer at the University of Yaoundé I, Sief, the draft was aimed at defining the contribution of education and training in the emergence of African countries and Cameroon in particular. This would highlight the potential educational tenets in African countries and that of their national and international partners.

Following the issuance of the speech by Jacques Fame Ndong, the head of the administration of the Minesup, Horace Ngomo Manga, indicated that "the expectations of the educational community are many and complex.

It is noteworthy that in Cameroon, the process of training and professionalization of the teachings is one of the top priorities of policy makers and the president of the Republic. They aim to project the country to attain a sense of emergence by the year 2035".

Between the lines, it states that "the Ministry of higher education is in Symphony with all initiatives aimed at improving the content of the lessons. The Bachelor-Master-doctorate (Lmd) system, is not the final step. The professionalization of the actors in our society is crucial for the achievement of the emergence.

To the Secretary general of the RPI, Emmanuel Kamdem, "Cameroon like most African countries, has set targets to become emerging in 2035". He added that "50 years ago, emerging countries today were less developed than our country. Why, the Sief still remain beyond the pit, should be the point of reflection of the men and women who must accompany the Government in its emergence".

Institute-sponsored Pan-African Development (Ipd) and the Minesup, Sief 2014, advocate for measures that will make Cameroon's educational system stand out from the ordinary systems elsewhere. This led to the consideration of acts such as the drafting of a Cameroonian charter of education and training.
