AFCON 2016/2019: Preparations begin in earnest

Prime Minister Philemon Yang has chaired the first preparatory meeting of the committee put in place to prepare for the African Cup of Nations to be hosted by Cameroon.

This first meeting was organised to elaborate the strategy to be adopted by government and especially a chronogram of activities.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Philemon Yang called on each member of the committee to present a plan of action in terms of the projects earmarked.

The most important of these projects to be carried out before the two important international encounters include construction and renovation of stadia, hotels, hospitals, roads and telecommunication facilities within the towns where the games will be played.

The national committee which was created on 3rd October, 2014 by a Presidential Decree and headed by Prime Minister Philemon Yang is made up of some ministers, the national security boss, government delegates of towns that will be hosting the games and the private sector.
