More than 30,000 Cameroonians learn the Chinese language

The Director of the Chinese Confucius Institute Yaounde, Yu Guoyang affirms that more then 30, 000 Cameroonians have already been taught to speak and write the Chinese Language.

He was speaking during celebrations marking the 10th anniversary of the institution that took place on 27th September 2014.

The first Confucius Institute noteworthy was created in South Korea in 2004.

Presently China runs 460 centres in 120 countries worldwide. The Confucius institute in Cameroon considered one of the best in the world was created seven years ago with 1000 students enrolled.

The number has been on a steady rise since then with a present record number of 7000.

There are plans to open three more centres in other towns in Cameroon.

The director of the Confucius centre Yu Guoyang expressed his wishes of having the language taught in universities and higher institutes

Some graduates of the centre are Chinese language teachers in some public secondary schools.
