Sierra Leone fires Coach ahead of Cameroon clash

After suffering two defeats in their last two meetings in the hands of Cote d'Ivoire (1-2) and Democratic Republic of Congo (0-2) respectively, Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) decided to fire Johnny Mckinstry ,their Coach.

As part of pursuing their AFCON 2015 dream, the country’s FA sacked their Irish tactician as a result of bad results, and he has been replaced with Atto Mensah, local and international old Sierra Leonean coach.

According to the sacked Irish tactician, he was disappointed with the decision of the FA taking into consideration that he was building team that was already moving to the right direction.

"I am very disappointed because we were moving in the right direction. We have developed a promising team for the future, "he had told BBC Sport. For him, the two defeats suffered against Côte d'Ivoire and the DRC were yet due to poor preparation caused by the expansion of the Ebola outbreak that hit the country.

Under the technical supervision of Johnny Mckinstry, Sierra Leone has recorded three wins, three losses and two draws. It was he who helped the team reach the final round of qualifier for the AFCON 2015.

Sierra Leone are currently ranked 17th in Africa while Cameroon are at the 8th position in Africa.

Cameroon will face Sierra Leone away on October 10 and on October 15 in Yaounde.
