International Relations Institute Alumni Created

The Association of Ex-students of the International Relations Institute of Cameroon (IRIC) has been created. The Minister of External Relations who doubles as the Board Chair of IRIC, Pierre Moukoko Mbonjo, made the announcement on Tuesday February 25, 2014 during an Ordinary session of the Board of Directors meeting of the institution in Yaounde.

Speaking at the opening, Minister Pierre Moukoko Mbonjo said the association will henceforth play a key role in improving African diplomacy. He said the intention is to create a network of former students. Presently, the association will function with a temporary president while waiting for a general assembly meeting to vote a bureau. According the statutes, the mother association will be in Cameroon with regional associations and also branches abroad.

Pierre Moukoko Mbonjo also used the occasion to announce the introduction of military training in school curricular of IRIC. The training which will begin this year is expected to train the students on citizenship. He said the school is working with the Ministry of Defence for the effective implementation of a training programme for the students.

He assured the students of the support of the school authorities as far as the training is concerned. Minister Moukoko Mbonjo called on the students to work hand-in-glove so that IRIC will continue to be the pride of the University of Yaounde II, Soa especially and of Cameroon in general.
