IPAVIC to provide farmers 100,000 chicks for Christmas

From 28 October, the poultry Interprofession of Cameroon (IPAVIC) will sell day-old chicks to farmers at a promotional price of 410 CFA francs against the 455 or 500 francs CFA currently charged by hatcheries.

According to Jean Claude Ottou Fouda, the permanent secretary of IPAVIC, a cargo of 100,000 day-old chicks will be made available at this special price to prepare the market supply of Cameroon during the Christmas 2014 season.

According to officials of IPAVIC, these deliveries will take place until November 13, 2014, to ensure that farmers are able to meet the production cycle of 45 days and be able to supply the market by mid-December.

Since 2006, IPAVIC with the assistance of the Cameroonian government organizes spot markets during Christmas periods, where 2kg chickens are usually sold at a special price of 2,500 CFA francs.
