Cameroonian footballer Ebosse killed by angry fans in Algeria

24 year-old Cameroonian, Albert Ebossé, striker of Jeunesse Sportive de Kabylie (JSK) in Algeria, was killed Saturday night in November 1 Stadium in Tizi Ouzou after he was hit in the head by a projectile thrown from the stands after a match between JSK and USMA which ended 1-2.

He passed out at the University Hospital of Tizi Ouzou after admission.

Ebossé was preparing to return to the locker room after the final whistle of the match for the second day of a division championship.

At the end of the match, tension was high after the defeat of his team which played against USMA and projectiles were thrown by the angry supporters against their team that was beaten in their first game of the season at home.

It was during the throwing of projectiles that Ebosse, scorer of the only goal for his team, was hit in the head.

He died from his injuries shortly after being taken to the emergency room of CHU, while suffering from head injuries.

Local authorities led by Abdelkader Bouazeghi went to the University Hospital of Tizi Ouzou few minutes after the announcement of the death of the Cameroon player.

Meanwhile many supporters of JSK on the scene were quick to denounce these acts and condemned the perpetrators.

The news of this cruel loss of Ebossé has quickly made the rounds of Kabylia spreading grief and consternation among fans of the JSK in particular and sports in general.

Albert Dominique Ebossé Bodjongo Dika began his career at Coton Sport (2008-2010) before joining Unisport Bafang (2010-2011), Douala AC (2011-2012) and then trialed in Malaysia with the formation of Perak FA (2012 -2013).

He joined JS Kabylie in 2013, played the final of the cup of Algeria in 2014 before finishing runner-up in the championship with 17 goals that enabled him win the top scorer title for 2013-2014.
