U-20 Lions held to a 1-1 draw

The Bafana Bafana yesterday held the U-20 Lions to a 1-1 draw during the first leg 3rd round qualifier match of the African Youth Championship, Senegal 2015, thereby rendering their return leg in a fortnight complicated.

Playing the Bafana Bafana at home would be very difficult for the lions that have to score at least two goals and not concede any to qualify for Senegal 2015.

It was a difficult first half with the Lions missing their passes, committing defensive errors, lacked cohesion and struggling individually to hold back the Bafana Bafana from scoring.

Franck Bagnack lacked efficiency at the defence and the goalkeeper was seen most often moving out to get the balls.

The players of Aboubakar Souleymanou entered the second half with steam, as Eteme Adamou volleyed in the opener at the 46th minute.

A pass from kunde Malong met Ebwelle Allain Richard who crossed it over to Eteme for the final shot at the goal.

But, the substitutions made immediately after the goal killed the team as Kunde Malong who did a beautiful job distributing the balls was replace by Ephraim Yosanguim.

With the midfield not functional, the defence was further weakened opening space for the opponents to level scores through Siyanda Ngubo at the 69th minute.

Even the sacking of the South African goalkeeper, Dumisani Msibi and the squad reduced to 10 for a fault on a lion did not help the Cameroon team as they squandered more chances.
