PM Yang Grants Audiences in Bertoua

Prime Minister, Head of Government, Philemon Yang on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 night received several delegations in Bertoua who came to welcome him and to present some pressing difficulties of the population. The audiences came on the eve of the inauguration of the Ayos- Bonis road on August 23, the Prime Minister chaired as the personal representative of the Head of State, Paul Biya.

The female elite from the East Region, while welcoming the Head of Government used the audience to present some key problems facing the woman in the region. Talking to the press after the discussions, Isabelle Tokpanou said they handed a memorandum to the Prime Minister. The content she said, concerned problems of enclavement, insufficient farm-to-market roads, problems of the rural woman and the under-representation of women in decision-making positions.

The Mbororo Community grouped under their association, Mbororo Social Cultural and Development Association (MBOSCUDA) solicited the creation of civil status registration centres in their settlements to facilitate the establishment of birth certificates, creation and recognition of traditional chiefs. The spokesperson of the Mbororo community, East Regional Vice President of MBOSCUDA, Aliou Garga Hamman also said they presented to Prime Minister Yang, the problems of access to grazing land, professional schools, under-representation in council executive organs and requested government's assistance in tackling other grazing hurdles.

Speaking for the Anglophone community, Simboh Antoine said, they came to welcome the Prime Minister and to assure him of their support in the accomplishment of his exalting task. "We assured him that we respect State institutions and live in unity and solidarity with one another," he said.

Prime Minister Yang also had discussions with some Members of Parliament from the East Region, some ruling Cameroon People's Democratic Movement (CPDM) local officials and a delegation of the Protestant Church.
