The students graduated from Higher Institutes of Arts, social and management Sciences (INASMAS), Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, Philosophy, Religious and Social Sciences and the Institute of Science and Technology.
In an earlier church service, before the graduation proper, the chaplains of the University, Rev. Achowah Umenei, focus on Jeremiah 29:4 "with us God has a better plan". He said CCU is God’s project which should be jealously handled by all and sundry. The Vice Chancellor of CCU, Professor Emmanuel Chia in his speech said the batch graduating has been christened the “Batch of Justice and Peace, adding that those they were sending to the world have been well groomed to face the challenges ahead of them as Christian graduates who are God’s children.
He announced that the University offers Master Degrees and there is a clinical counseling Specialization course (MA) only offered by CCU University in Cameroon. Professor Chia thanked Gov’t for the tarring of the road to the university and expressed disappointment that the very gov’t closed down the medical department last year thereby frustrating students. He assured the population that all is being put in place for the gov’t to re-instate health & biomedical Department of CCU.
On his part, the Chancellor of the Cameroon Christian University, the Moderator of the PCC, Rt. Rev. Dr. Festus A. Asana said if there was one bromshell that embarrassed him as proprietor of CCU is the suspension ban of the medical department, where the school invested so much and are still investing to make sure the students come out the best. He said CCU is outstanding and unique because it trains or chunk out only the best products that reflect the Christian church not intelligent devils. “This is your new beginning and we hope after all this knowledge you have acquired, you will not disappoint us”
Moderator In a key not discourse that held many spelt bound, Ntumfor Barrister Nico Halle, an International legal consultant and peace crusader, pegged his discourse on the theme “knowledge and Integrity”. He said knowledge is power, though some whom have acquired knowledge from well grounded Christian schools are championing corruptions black mail, backstabbing and organized disorder in every action they undertake, whether political, economic or social. He regretted that religious knowledge has been thrown to the dogs by all in society and immorality, avarice has taken centre stage. “How can a man make love to man, and a woman to a woman, God forbid” this to Ntumfor is Sacrilege and Cameroon Gov’t with Clearly defined laws have shown that homosexuality is not only bad but sinful, very sinful.
While thanking parents for investing heavily in their children, Ntumfor urged the students not to be contaminated by the get rich quick virus. “Respect the church, hierarchy, be good a ambassadors of the PCC or of your dominations because from all what I have monitored, CCU is graduating “enlightened Christian graduates, not just any graduates today. So it is a historical event” he explained to students that integrity means, kindness, self-control, obedience, law abiding, God fearing prayerful etc. “Don’t associate with pilferers of state funds or where you have to go and serve.
Away from Convocation discourse, Ntumfor begged permission from Governor’s Representative S.G Monono Woloa to lash out at those he termed “evil forces of the Northwest region who stifled his presentation of an International Peace Award to President Paul Biya of Cameroon and Former President Olushagon Obasenjong of Nigeria over the peaceful settlement of the Bakassi Penisular dispute without resorting to arms and loss of lives.
He said elites or Fons who pit one elites against another or village against another are Boko Harams and should be named and shames everywhere as they pretentiously parade corridors of powers asking for favours.
To the PCC and elections coming up, he prayed church leaders and aspirants not to indulged in widespread election fraud, campaign sermons, filthy sermons, blackmail and backstabbing to grab offices. “our eternity as a church is being put to test as we face elections and we should emulate the emblematic style of our moderator Dr. Asana so that God can give us another leader”. Ntumfor concluded.
The occasion was witnessed by SDF National Chairman, Fon SN Angwafor and a host of dignitaries. University Dons like Prof. Bile Butake, Prof. Paul N. Mbangwana, as Full time Lecturers including Pro-Chancellor of CCU, Prof. Dorothy L. Njeuma, Prof. Vincent Tanya, Dr. Christian Wankah, who led departments in their various interventions during the graduation attracted a lot of attention and applause.
