Pupils and students nationwide are carrying out activities ahead of the commemoration of the 50th National Youth Day under the theme “Youth, citizenship and the fight against insecurity for the advent of an emerging Cameroon.”

Moving downtown Yaounde February 4, 2016, pupils of many primary schools could be seen taking part in marching practice sessions.

Some headteachers on their part, like that of Deo Gracias Catholic School – Yaounde, chose excursions as part of activities towards celebrating the National Youth Day.

In secondary schools, commemorative activities range from marching practice to sports competitions, social evenings popularly referred to as “Kermesse” and cultural events.

This is the case of students of the Nkoleton Bilingual High School in Yaounde where students are putting an accent on cooking varied traditional dishes and practising traditional dances to be presented this Friday 5th February 2016 in a cultural event.

The numerous activities and the active participation of boys and girls in all disciplines seem to echo the keywords of the theme of this 2016 National Youth Day – citizenship, fighting insecurity and emergence.
