After the signing ceremony between FECAFOOT and municipal councils in relation to the construction of seven municipal stadiums in Cameroon with synthetic grass, one of the linchpins of the project, David Mayebi mentioned a few things to reporters of CRTV.

The former Vice President of the Cameroon Football Federation spoke of the benefits of a synthetic turf lawn.

"The first thing for a footballer is the playground. All Cameroonians will enjoy watching football on clean pitch today," he said.

According to him, the city councils will maintain their commitments because they have better material conditions.

"With decentralization, local councils will have a lot more resources than today. We are not animals. When we started this study project for the format we still tried to get some information."

According to the former Union of Douala player, there should not be any form of anxiety with regard to the maintenance of new play areas.

"This is a new generation of lawn. It's not a lawn like any other. The lawn should thus be maintained. However, there are channels for this trade and we have created it. We sent people on training for the maintenance of the lawn. We can even play 350 matches per season on a pitch like this. This cannot be done in the other stadiums," he said.

Municipal stadia in Bafang, Bafia, Bangangté, Bamenda, Ngaoundere, Ngoumou, and Sangmélima will benefit from the agreement signed on Monday, November 23, 2015, in Yaoundé.

Work will start at the beginning of January. They should be completed in June 2016.
