Yesse Meyanga Herve Acquitted in Ministry of Finance Case

The Special Criminal Court has accepted the decision of the Procurer General stopping the proceedings against Yesse Meyanga Hervé with all the legal consequences involved. The decision was made public at the Special Criminal Court in Yaounde on Monday March 24, 2014 in Yaoundé. The legal consequences involved include the cancellation of his detention warrant pronounced against him according to article 30 of the Penal Code with mention of it in his criminal record. Yesse Meyanga Hervé was accused of embezzling FCFA 56, 696, 967 when he was treasurer of the Mbanjock Treasury in the Upper Sananga Division in the Centre Region from 2009 to 2011. In course of the case, Yesse Meyanga is said to have paid back the money to the court and applied to the Minister of Justice for his release. The minister then replied and asked the procurer general to stop the proceedings of the case. The public treasury will bear the cost of the procedure. The two parties had 48 hours to appeal as from the moment of pronouncement of the judgment.
