Yaounde in darkness as a result of Saturday's explosion

The huge explosion in a domestic gas warehouse recorded Saturday night at Etoudi neighborhood in Yaoundé, has impacted greatly on the city.

Besides Etoudi, the consequences were also felt in several other parts of the political capital. For example, almost all of Yaoundé was plunged into darkness as a result of accidents on electrical installations by this explosion.

"An accident that could have originated in a gas station in Etoudi has affected one of the main lines of high voltage power transmission connecting Ngousso and Kondengui Saturday night around 19:45. Therefore, these two items are out cutting power to serve all customers supplied by these sources of energy distribution. Several heavy response teams from eneo are currently on the ground in order to make repairs. The operations will take place throughout the night with the aim to restore power at dawn at the latest", this was made known last night in a press release from eneo, the company in charge of the production and distribution of electric energy Cameroon.

"eneo Cameroon expresses its sincere regrets to its customers for any inconvenience caused by this force majeure," concludes the release.

The extent of damage and losses experienced are to be determined by the authorities who last Saturday were on the scene and prescribed the opening of an investigation.
