The Director General of the National Investment Society (SNI), Yaou Aissatou, was summoned at the Special Criminal Court (SCC) today in Yaoundé.

Even though the objective of the meeting was not revealed, sources have indicated that the President of the Women's Organization of the Cameroonian People Democratic Movement (WCPDM) will have to answer for her management (mainly financial related) projects in her portfolio.

Other administrators within public companies, bearer of actions of the state as well as private enterprises, will also be subjects to hearings before the same court. The most cited names include: Gilbert Tsimi Evouna and Dieudonné Evou Mekou, Government delegate at the Yaoundé Urban Community (Cuy) and Director-general of the Autonomous Sinking Fund (Caa) respectively.

Being an object of investigations by the Superior Control of the State (Consupe) for several months, these three personalities, were at the heart of a letter of withdrawal of a partner under the Programme for the Economic Conversion of the Banana Sector (Prebap), officially launched on December 31, 2004. Therefore, the investigators at the SCC will have to provide accumulated data for the manifestation of the truth.

The Prebap file involves 20 billion FCfa, which was embezzled. Yaou Aïssatou will thus have to explain the alleged sugarcoat found in the said project, largely funded by development partners and which some sources had reported massive diversions.
