Yang orders Ama Tutu Muna to annul her decision on Socacim

Philemon Yang, the Cameroonian Prime Minister has ordered Ama Tutu Muna, the Minister of Arts and Culture, to cancel the authorization it has granted to the new Music Civil Society, learns "koaci".

In a statement released on the radio of the capital, on May 15, Ama Tutu Muna, Minister of Arts and Culture (Minac) granted approval to civil Cameroon Music Society (Socacim) in replacement of the deceased (Socam), the Cameroonian society of the musical art.

The Socacim were ruled illegal by the PM and suddenly, the head of government asks his minister to cancel her decision. It is now open war between the two camps clashing with blows of arguments.

In the camp of the Minac, it is estimated that Law No. 2000/011 of 19 December 2000 on copyright and neighboring rights and its implementing decree No. 2001/959 PM of 1 November 2001 on the modalities of application of the above-stated law, grants all the "legal competence in the management of copyright to the Minister of Arts and Culture."

"False"! Executives argue the services of the prime minister, for them, "the Minac, -like all other ministers- has no constitutional prerogatives recognized by law,"is it not the PM, in his capacity as head of government that establishes the national policy, implemented by the head of state? Therefore, no minister should take action without his approval. The structure legitimized by Ama Tutu should disappear. This especially why an ad hoc committee was set up by the PM, to find a solution to the thorny problem of the management of copyright and related rights in Cameroon" entrusts" koaci " by a source near the PM who states that the Minac has 72 hours to reverse its decision.
