Wouri Division introduces new auto tax

The councils in the Wouri division have introduced a new method of taxation and may probably start in January.

A meeting was held at the Senior Divisional Officer, SDO, of Wouri on Friday, November 27, 2015.

Users of motorized vehicles assigned to economic activities and subject to withholding tax or the parking fee in Douala should be prepared to pay these local taxes differently in 2016.

At the end of the quarterly meeting of the Departmental Committee on local Finance (Codefil), the idea of establishing a single thumbnail to represent and authenticate the payment of these rights has largely advanced.

The change is expected to increase revenues from these taxes and simplify their payment, eliminate fraud, harmonize tariffs, which allows administrations as users save time.

The parties, where one distinguishes the SDO, Divisional Officers (DO), mayors, recipients of the municipalities concerned, are waiting for the resolution of technical issues such as the adoption of a graph with information relating to the vehicle imposed will be printed and probably sold early next year.

Three models of the new tax will be discussed in small groups for the final face to be retained. This is one of the resolutions of this assembly, which also addressed other financial worries common in Wouri which the statement of revenue was estimated on the occasion.

The committee considered the particular measures to be taken against the partner municipalities that cover and refuse to pay back some local taxes in the town of Douala V.

It was also resolved at the behest of the DO, Naseri Paul Bea, to bring the municipal tax authorities and those of the national tax administration where the need arises.

Such is the case of Madagascar market (Douala III) where the number of taxpayers whose tax has to be paid back largely differs according to statistics from the mayor and those of the tax office.
