Cameroonians have resumed work at their respective duty posts after a long festive weekend which kicked off with Christmas celebrations from Thursday evening.

As early as 8:00 am Monday morning, streets were once again jammed with traffic as people headed towards different directions. In most companies, officials were taking part in strategic meetings probably the last for the year 2015.

Traces of fatigue were still very present on the faces of some workers from excessive celebrations while others said the weekend was a period of rest and meditation.

At the different hospitals in Yaoundé, Medical officers said Christmas was relatively calm compared to last year because the number of patients on treatment for Christmas excesses and accidents significantly reduced.

Security officers said Cameroonians have become more responsible especially as the cost of living has increased.

Aggression, fighting and other forms of insecurity were quasi absent as the police and Gendarmerie kept watch.

However, a few people were arrested for driving without drivers licences and others driving under the influence of alcohol.

Two people were also detained on the aftermath of Christmas in Yaoundé for alleged involuntary homicide.

Markets are also regaining their steam as people have already begun purchasing for the New Year feast and to stock their home for the month of January which many describe as a difficult month.
