Volker Finke claims FCFA 700 million as compensation

The former coach of the national football team of Cameroon, German Volke Finker, has claimed FCFA 700 million as compensation after his dismissal few days before the Indomitable Lions match.

According to Le Jour newspaper on Thursday, "the lawyer of Volker Finke visited the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education and the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) in order to proceed with the restitution of the German technician."

According to the lawyer, based on his rights, “Cameroon must pay FCFA 700 million to Volker Finke, after the "wrongful termination of his contract," on October 30, 2015.

In his letter, the board of the former coach of the four times African champions indicated that this payment must be effective "as soon as possible."

On his arrival as the head of the Cameroon national team in 2013, Volker Finker has had poor results including the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and the African Cup of Nations (CAN) 2015 in Equatorial Guinea; with Cameroon always miserably eliminated in the first round.

After this double debacle, his renewal on the bench as coach of the "Indomitable Lions" until May 31, 2015, had aroused widespread disapproval in Cameroon. Cameroonians and many sports analysts struggled to understand the reasons to renew an "incompetent" coach.

Cameroon, which has taken three months to find a new coach, has given Alexandre Belinga, then Deputy of the German technician, the chance to head the lions as interim.
