Video: Released hostages to be hosted by Biya

Reports indicate that the Chinese hostages freed by Boko Haram extremists had left the Chinese Embassy in Yaounde for the Presidency (Unity Palace) where they were expected to be received by President Biya.

After their release, the freed hostages were treated at the Yaounde Hospital as they were weak and tired but relieved.

They were seized by Boko Haram in two separate raids in May and July close to the Nigeria border. It is still not clear how their release was secured.
