Vice-President of World Bank Africa to visit Cameroon

Makhtar Diop, vice president of the World Bank for Africa, will be visiting Cameroon from 22 to 24 July 2014 in response to an invitation from Paul Biya.

During his stay in Cameroon, sources say that Mr. Diop will have work sessions with Cameroonian authorities and officials of the Bank of Central African States (BEAC),before he stops over at the palace of the Unit by President Biya.

According to the same source, the Vice-President of the World Bank for Africa will visit the Eastern Region of Cameroon, where he will oversee the progress of the construction of the Lom Pangar dam which is partially funded by the World Bank.

Makhtar Diop is the second person of that rank in the World Bank to have made a working visit to Cameroon. The first was Nigeria Obiageli Ezekwesili the then Vice-President of the World Bank's Africa region. She visited Cameroon in December 2009.
