Veterans and war victims meet in Yaounde

About a hundred officers recently held a meeting in Yaounde to reflect on the retired military personnel, veterans and victims of war. Obviously "their situation is poor."

This is the least lamentation by Colonel Abba Tongari, Director of rehabilitation and assistance at the State Secretariat of Defense, in charge of veterans and war victims (Sed / Cacvg).

According to the daily Mutations No. 4011 of Wednesday, October 28, 2015, it appears from the overall speeches on Tuesday at the opening of the said seminar, a veteran said they are exposed to idleness, boredom with limited financial resources, and difficult reintegration into family and society, among other ailments.

Becoming an average citizen clearly has its downside. "Since independence, several measures have been taken to improve the living conditions of veterans and war victims," ??noted Mr. Koumpa Issa, Secretary of State for Defence in charge of veterans and war victims (Sed / Cacvg).

The seminar was mainly attended by officers whose retirement age approached. As an example, we learn a colonel retires (in principle) at 58 years and a general (in principle) at 61 years. For Colonel Abba Tongari, when he was 58 years old, he still had life ahead of him. One should logically be able to "convert back to an artist/musician, teacher, writer, doctor or entrepreneur."

The senior officer also thinks that the retired military personnel "can do everything they want according to his potential and his physical and academic skills." To make this dream come true, the officers met in Yaoundé to first consider a "conversion aid" which is nonexistent.

It should also make provision for retraining schools across the country. In short, there should be a retraining policy approved and funded by the Ministry of Defence. The seminar started on Tuesday and ends on October 30 marking the first step of an ambition, which could take time before becoming a realization.
