Vacation camps announced

The Tourism and Recreation Ministry will organize in July and August the third edition in the towns of Buea, Garoua and Yaounde.

It is time for the holidays and some parents have opted for the concept of "summer camps" to not only entertain children but also to allow them to discover the cities of Cameroon.

"I have already registered my two children who wanted to travel to Garoua where they would see how it looks like and the various tourist sites," says Jeannette Ngo Boum, executive in public administration.

The Ministry of Tourism and Recreation (Mintoul) registrations are launched in all the ten regions to allow parents to register their children for the third session of this concept.

"For now, we have not yet made the choices but there is more excitement in the parents. We are afraid of being overwhelmed and forced to turn down some children. The reception quota by region varies between 30 and 50 children. In short, we expect 350 young people," says Elise Bomba Atangana, leisure development manager at Mintoul.

For this edition, the expedition will extend from July to August 2015, with diverse cities; Buea from July 8 to 22 for children from West, East, South and South-West; Garoua from July 20 to August 4 for those of the Centre, Littoral, Far North and Adamawa; Yaounde from August 6 to 20 with youth of the ten regions of Cameroon.

To take part, you should be aged 11 to 18 years, be able to do sports and cultural activities, be in good physical and mental health, be recommended by a parent or legal guardian and pay the registration fee amounting to FCFA 20 000.

"We ask parents to hurry because the sheets will be closed at the end of June," Elise Bomba Atangana said.
