Criminals in Yaounde have been noted to use chloroform on the victims of late. Recently, criminals have adopted this new technique which they render in the pretext of selling perfume at very cheap prices. Immediately their victim smells it, they are totally dazed and fall prey to the evil deeds.

According to reports, in the District Efoulan in Yaounde, a 5th year medicine student was approached by an unknown gentleman as she was about to take a taxi home.

In no time, they engaged in a discussion where the unknown guy managed to gather information about her particulars. Laure as she was called finally had a taxi but was still followed by this stranger.

When they got close to her home she was drugged by this stranger without her knowledge. After examinations made on her, doctors concluded that she was drugged with chloroform.

Yet, Laure revealed that she did not welcome this man or inhale any such thing.

But, upon her arrival home, Laure had a strong smell of an unknown scent and according to doctors, it is through this that her attacker would have put her in this State.

Chloroform was formerly used as an anesthetic in operating theatres. During storage, extended in the presence of oxygen and under the action of light, chloroform has a tendency to cause a lot of health threats. Given that is contains hydrogen chloride, chlorine and carbon oxychloride which are highly toxic products, when absorbed or inhaled in high concentration it can lead to a coma, or even cause respiratory and cardiac disorders which can be fatal. This is the reason why, its use in anaesthesia has been abandoned.
