University of Dschang students threaten to protest

Many students of this institution require a payment of their bonus for academic excellence in the amount of 50,000 CFA Francs.

Students of the University of Dschang, left out in the list of beneficiaries of the Prime academic excellence grant by the Head of State to the best students of Cameroon State Universities for the 2012-2013 academic year threaten to move up a gear if nothing is done.

After noting the absence of their names among the beneficiaries of the annual bonus of the Head of State in September, they approached the administration of their institution which had promised to take steps to meet them later at the beginning of December.

"We have no choice. And we have to get to that," said a disgruntled student to the reporter of La Nouvelle Expression. The students concerned are mostly those of the Master Levels 1 and 2 and doctorate who are eligible for this bonus.

After the publication of the list of beneficiaries, Dschang University authorities had explained that the absence of their names was as a result of computer errors.

While students were ready to protest, they were softened by the promises of President Anaclet Fomete who asked them to wait for the issue to be settled latest at the beginning of December.
