University lecturers await change of grade

The Consultative Committee of University Institutions (CCIU) is meeting in Yaounde in their joint 31st and 32nd session to determine the change of grade for those teaching at university institutions.

During the three-day meeting which started on 16th December 2014, the committee will be examining over 500 files.

Amongst the files are those to be upgraded from assistant lecturers to lecturers, associate professors and professors.

While opening the session, Higher Education Minister and Chancellor of Academic Orders, Prof Jacques Fame Ndongo told the committee members to bear in mind the weight of their responsibility and its consequences.

The Minister cautioned them on the dangers of unmerited promotion of candidates and the effects of depriving one of rightful promotion, explaining how it would adversely affect university education.

Prof Jacques Fame Ndongo prescribed equality and honesty as guide.

The Consultative Committee of University Institutions (CCIU) is a board in charge of recruiting, evaluating and promoting university instructors.
