Universities: About four million set aside for internet

In this new academic orientation, the Ministry of higher education (Minesup) plans to review its digital governance. For this purpose, a special fund amounting to 394,568 million F for telecommunications has just been put at the disposal of the Department by the Prime Minister, head of Government.

These funds for the modernization of infrastructure, is for the acquisition of minimum Internet bandwidth necessary for the general use of ICT in universities.

This is one of the resolutions highlighted for the second session in respect of the year 2015 of the University coordination Commission, held on Thursday, 30 April in Yaoundé. For more than ten hours of exchanges, the members of this commission worked on several points in order to improve the management of State universities.

On the agenda, chaired by the Minister of higher education (Minesup), Jacques Fame Ndongo, Chancellor of academic orders were: structure of graduates in State universities and private issuance, conversion of magistral rank of teachers retired as teachers on subcontract in State universities with presentation of a standard contract.

He questioned the situation of new Masters programs and professional doctorates introduced at the University of Yaoundé II Soa and other academic institutions of State, the implementation of IT tools for the consolidation of the LMD system and academic management of students in State universities.

During the discussions, members of the commission also began to agree on the accentuation of the professionalization of the teachings for the stowage of the University to the strategy for growth and employment document, as prescribed by the head of State, Paul Biya.

With respect to the awarding, Minesup has reassured that it will be widespread and systematic. With regard to the replacement of retired teachers of magistral rank, a call for nominations will be launched this year. Selected teachers will receive a contract binding them to a university having solicited their academic services and research.

And to dock with the global academic space, Minesup reassures of the continuity of quality assurance in the Cameroonian academic system.
