US Ambassador joins fight against wildlife trafficking

Ambassador Michael S. Hoza visited the North Region from February 8 through to 13 to promote regional security and wildlife conservation cooperation between the United States of America and the Republic of Cameroon.

He was accompanied by Dirck Byler from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), Ameliah Croft from the Bureau of African Affairs, and U.S. Embassy officials.

The Ambassador’s visit included meetings with Governor of the North Region Mr. Jean Ariel Abate Edi’I, Senator Pierrette Hayatou, and visits to L’ecole de Faune and LANAVET, as well as with local officials, traditional leaders, security officers, residents of the region, and Cameroonian journalists who provided media coverage for his visit, to whom he underscored the United States’ commitment to partner with Cameroonians in their goals and efforts to promote security and combat wildlife trafficking.

The Ambassador’s visit to the North Region highlighted the United States’ priority to conduct outreach throughout the Republic of Cameroon.
