UNDP-Cameroon assesses programmes

Four main programmes of UNDP (United Nations Development Programme) and of the State of Cameroon put in place in 2013, for a period of four years, underwent an assessment Wednesday in Yaounde.

It was on the occasion of the follow-up meeting to assess the first half of these programmes which includes: programme for the amelioration of political participation of social groups in situations of vulnerability and integration for their pre-occupation, the kind and the cross-cutting dimensions in both politics and strategy, program for improving resilience of populations to the effects of climate change, the Programme for the improvement of the services provided to the users of public services (PAAQSU) and the program of improvement of revenue and access of local populations of the Sahelian area to basic social and economic services.

During this meeting, it was necessary to scan the status of these projects from January to June 2014 and the adjustments necessary to achieve the objectives set during the next six months.

For Dieudonné Takouo, Director of the North-South Cooperation and multilateral organizations at the Ministry of economy, planning and land use (Minepat), "it is better to assess the progress, and the extent of measures still to be implemented, identify bottlenecks and together find solutions and the best approaches to provide an optimal attainment of the objectives".

Overall, it shows that the implementation of these programs last year has been effective and funding was found for the projects. For the time being, this is to implement the project teams. "We are on track to achieve the results expected in 2014," reassured the Dr Corneille Agossou, deputy resident representative of UNDP.
