UN condemns the double suicide bombing in the Far North

The Secretary General of the UN,Ban Ki -moon, has condemned the double suicide bombing that struck the city of Maroua, the capital of the Extreme North province of Cameroon, on July 22 .

Ban extended his sincere condolences to the families of the victims and to the government and people of Cameroon. He wished a speedy recovery to those injured in the twin bombings.

"The Secretary General reiterates his support to the government of Cameroon and the countries of the region. He encourages them to strengthen their cooperation in the fight against the threats posed by Boko Haram, while strictly respecting humanitarian law, human rights and refugee law," said his spokesperson in a press statement.

According to press reports, the twin bombings that killed at least 12 people and left dozens wounded was carried out by two female suicide bombers and bears the mark of the group Boko Haram .
