U.S. Embassy partners with CMR to promote health

On September 10, the U.S. Embassy in Yaoundé welcomed 52 medical professionals from Cameroon’s health sector to a Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training session. The program included Cameroonian doctors and nurses who partnered with the U.S Embassy staff to receive CPR training to provide for their patients and communities.


Welcoming the guests, U.S. Embassy Health Care Provider Donald H. Lish noted, “Greetings on behalf of Ambassador Michael S. Hoza, who has said that promoting health sector cooperation is one of the United States priorities in Cameroon. Your participation in today’s program, and our follow up session next week, underscores our commitment to work with Cameroonian medical practitioners to enhance health services to the general public. We look forward to our training programs, our exchange of medical knowledge, and to further strengthen our cooperation.”


Following the event, one participant lauded the United States by saying that, “I thank the American people for this training opportunity. It has provided us the tools to raise awareness and educate the public on critical lifesaving skills that can reduce preventable deaths.”


The American people contributes annual assistance to the Republic of Cameroon which includes over $45 million dollars for the health sector implemented in partnership with Cameroonians by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the U.S. Agency for International development (USAID), and the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) to combat HIV/AIDS and other diseases.
