Twycross Zoo vets head to Cameroon to help monkeys

Two veterinary officers from Twycross Zoo will be flying to Cameroon this week to carry out vital medical checks on primates in a specialist sanctuary.

Veterinarian and chief executive officer of the zoo Sharon Redrobe will be accompanied by the Zoo's, vet Sarah Chapman, when she heads to the African country.

The last time Ms Redrobe was there, she was involved in life-saving surgery on an orphaned gorilla called Shufai (pictured).

Her experience helping Shufai will be featured in a documentary on BBC One which is due to be screened on August 6.

Operation Wild, which will be presented by Clare Balding and Steve Leonard, will start at 9pm.
