Two suspected Boko Haram members arrested in Kolofata

Two suspected members of Boko Haram were arrested by a detachment of the Rapid Intervention Battalion (BIR) in Kolofata on Wednesday, a security source told Koaci.

The two alleged members of Boko Haram were denounced by members of a vigilance Committee in the Mayo-Sava, sources informed.

“As soon as we had information about their presence, a unit of our army embarked on their heels. They were armed at the time of their arrest,” said our source.

On September 22, four other suspected members of Boko Haram, were arrested at Kousseri, in the Logone-Chari (Extreme North), thanks this time, to a Customs officer who traced them in their hiding place.

A day before, 20 bodies of the combatants of the Nigerian Islamist sect, were discovered at Amchide, after a violent fight against the Cameroonian army. Several corpses of fallen Boko Haram in this particularly violent clash, had been swept away by their comrades, indicated various Cameroonian military sources.

The upsurge of terrorist attacks, attributed to the Islamist sect, comes at a time where the number of Joint Multinational Force (FMM) sector commander, based in Mora 85 km from the capital of the Far North, which has jurisdiction over the Mayo-Sava, Mayo-Tsanaga, Logone-and-Chari, Chad and part of Nigeria, went into action.

Authorities and the army increased calls for contributions to the strengthening of intelligence. Vigilance committees and people give more information, to defense and security, administration forces or heads of villages, on the presence of suspicious persons which helps in the arrests of suspected members of Boko Haram.
