After the visit of Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari, in Yaoundé on July 29 and 30, 2015, the two countries have decided to complete the construction of the Bamenda-Enugu road corridor within a short time.

Perhaps, this will be a turning point for the bilateral relations between Cameroon and Nigeria. The visit of the President of Nigeria to Cameroon was able to resurrect an old project. Thus, work on the construction of the Mamfe (Cameroon) -Enugu (Nigeria) and Bamenda-Enugu Corridor (Nigeria) road will begin soon.

These infrastructures launched on June 21, 2010, have still not been completed after five years.

"The two leaders have called for completion of the Bamenda-Enugu corridor road within a short time of construction," stated a joint communiqué signed by both parties on July 30, 2015.

Muhammadu Buhari and Paul Biya have also decided to accelerate the feasibility studies for the construction of a bridge over the Mayo Tiel and the Gamburu-Ngala-Kousseri road.

The two heads of state have agreed to hold the first session of the consular Committee and Cameroon-Nigeria Immigration to conduct the review of the MoU on the free movement of people and goods, signed in 1963, in Abuja, Nigeria, by October 2015.

Also, they decided to strengthen the excellent economic and trade relations between Cameroon and Nigeria, by promoting investment in both countries. This will be realized by convening a business forum between Cameroon and Nigeria, in Abuja at a later date by mutual agreement.

Both the Cameroonian and Nigerian presidents welcomed the agreement on border cooperation in hydrocarbon to accelerate the signing process for its operationalization.

Concerning the Bakassi Peninsula, the two presidents noted the satisfaction expressed by the Secretary General of the UN, in his latest report on the activities of the UN Office for West Africa from January to June 2015, on the progress of the demarcation of the land boundary between Cameroon and Nigeria.

They agreed to give favorable consideration to the recommendation of the UN Secretary-General on the finalization by the end of 2015, the land demarcation work, to devote to the improvement of cooperation border.

Muhammadu Buhari has invited his counterpart, Paul Biya, to pay a friendly and working visit to Nigeria. This invitation was accepted and the date will be fixed later through diplomatic channels.
